Carrying June

But It’s Halloween

10/31/24: Day 1 of chemo

Halloween in the hospital

a haunted house

But it’s the oncologist delivering

Not only a diagnosis

For your precious three year old

But skittles

for trick or treating

At the door

Of her room

Where she can’t leave

11 days

And the skittles

Dye and sugar

Poison

That they shouldn’t have anyway

Will it feed the cancer cells?

I spiral

But it’s Halloween

 in the hospital

Can’t she have a few?

This haunted hospital

floor 9, oncology

These corridors

Are sure to haunt me

And you stop her good intentions

at the door

And rant to the dietician

Can we all get on the same fucking page here?

Your sick haunted house

Will haunt sick kids, on repeat

Please I beg you

Get on the same fucking page
